Salesforce SFTP and SharePoint, Dropbox, and other storage platforms

Salesforce supports SFTP as a method for ingesting and exporting data to/from the Salesforce platform. While on the face of it, this may seem fairly straightforward, the technical complexity can appear when you require an SFTP server or file automation and workflows to automate the ingestion into Salesforce.
Couchdrop provides SFTPaaS
When the complexity increases the opportunity to find a simple, secure low-cost solution becomes apparent. This is where Couchdrop’s cloud SFTP and file automation platform can prevail. Couchdrop is a SaaS fully hosted service that can have you up and running in a matter of minutes. Couchdrop integrates directly with your cloud storage, such as SharePoint, Dropbox, etc. and can automate the transfer of files from these platforms directly into your Salesforce instance via SFTP.
- Drop a file into a Dropbox folder, 5 minutes later Couchdrop will pick it up and send it directly into Salesforce through the SFTP connector — neat huh?
- Want to receive a Salesforce export in SharePoint then receive an email notification? Easy, Couchdrop can reverse it and pull data.
Getting started with Salesforce and Couchdrop
To get started with Couchdrop, all you need to do is create an account (14-day free trial, no credit card), configure Salesforce as an SFTP mount, connect your storage platform (Box, Google, Dropbox, S3, or whatever you have — even on-premises Windows File Servers) and then configure an Automation within the Couchdrop console.
Should you wish Salesforce to send you data, rather than you pull it, you can create an SFTP user and configure this user to have access to a specific directory in your storage platform and then provide these details to Salesforce who can then connect and send files directly to your cloud storage.
While this touches briefly on one use case with Couchdrop, there are plenty more with Couchdrop’s Inboxes, SFTP, and Automate functionality. Not to mention, Couchdrop has a range of Engineers available to help any time, with any use case.
