How does Couchdrop work with Box
Couchdrop adds SFTP, FTP, and SCP functionality to Box, allowing you to give users secure access to specific Box folders and files. This enables users to securely upload or download files from Box directly using standard file transfer clients, without having to share Box credentials or use the Box web interface.
With granular permission controls, you can easily manage user access to Box folders and files. You can even set specific folders as root directories using the Sub Path option. Couchdrop handles all the underlying integration, security and scalability, making file transfers to and from Box simple and reliable.

Couchdrop vs Native Box FTP
While Box supports FTP and FTPS, Couchdrop offers several advantages:
- Couchdrop provides SFTP functionality, which Box doesn't support natively.
- Box FTP is limited to Business and Enterprise accounts, while Couchdrop works with all Box accounts.
- Couchdrop supports both passive and active FTP, whereas Box only supports passive FTP.
- Couchdrop offers additional features like automated file actions, email inboxes, and file transfer automations.
- With Couchdrop, you can easily transfer files between Box and other cloud storage platforms like SharePoint.
- Couchdrop allows for granular user permissions, white-labeled upload portals, and dedicated infrastructure if required.
